JK BMS does exactly this in my 16S build — caught a 40mV drift on one cell during the weekly charge cycle and the active balancer corrected it before the next discharge. The Bluetooth app makes it visible in real time. Overkill is solid too, but JK at $65 is hard to argue against for most DIY builds.
