Parting out my spares inventory. I've accumulated these modules over several junkyard pulls and am thinning inventory to fund my next project.
What's available
64 × Chevy Volt Gen 2 (2016–2019) battery modules. Each module is 3 cells in series (10.8V nominal), rated 5.3Ah. All modules have been:
- Individually load tested at 25°C (0.5C rate)
- Capacity measured and recorded
- Sorted into tiers: Grade A (>95% capacity), Grade B (90–95%), Grade C (85–90%)
Inventory breakdown:
- Grade A: 28 modules (avg 98.2% of rated capacity)
- Grade B: 22 modules (avg 92.1% of rated capacity)
- Grade C: 14 modules (avg 87.4% of rated capacity)
All modules are from cars with under 75,000 miles. Car VINs and mileage available on request. Original Volt liquid cooling plates are still attached and in good condition.
Pricing (negotiable for large lots)
- Grade A: $28/module ($784 for all 28)
- Grade B: $18/module ($396 for all 22)
- Grade C: $12/module ($168 for all 14)
- Full lot (all 64): $1,100 (25% discount)

These modules weigh about 5 lbs each including the cooling plate. I'll ship individual modules or small lots via USPS or UPS. I'll build a pallet for a full lot. Buyer pays actual shipping cost.
Located in Tempe, AZ. Local pickup available — will help load.
Why Volt Gen 2 modules?
These are the best all-around salvage cells in the DIY community right now — excellent energy density for NMC chemistry, proven thermal management system, well-documented BMS protocol, and 32 modules in a 16S2P configuration gives you a clean 20kWh pack. Perfect for home storage or EV conversions in the 72V–96V range.

Good pricing on the Grade A modules — I've been seeing those go for $30–35 each from other sellers recently. Are the cooling plates actually usable or are they corroded? A lot of junkyard pulls I've seen have corrosion at the port fittings from sitting in a flooded car (early Volt owners learned not to leave the windows down).
@batterynerd The plates are clean — these came from cars I pulled myself, all drivable at time of pull. I have photos of each car's engine bay (they kept their original plates so I never got water in the cabin). The port fittings are aluminum and look good. I'll send photos of a representative sample if you're serious about the lot.
I bought 32 Grade A modules from a similar lot last year and they've been fantastic in my home storage build. If you're considering this: the modules are easy to work with, the data sheets are publicly available, and you can do a capacity test at home with a battery analyzer and a DC load resistor. Strongly recommend getting all Grade A or Grade B from a single pull if you're building a pack — matched cells stay balanced much better over time.
